| Friends Working with models, I create plaster body cast molds. The seated figure of Shannon required a 10 part mold, the reclining form of Tenille, a 20 part mold. From these plaster molds, I fashioned 5 figures of each before the molds deteriorated. I challenged myself to do something different with each figure. It was indeed a challenge as the beauty of their realism was difficult to improve upon. I laid textured clay in some of the molds, added thinware slabs of textured clothes to others and built up layers of stains, glazes and cold surfaces on others. The mixed media environments added to the symbolic meaning of the figures. Working with the figure for the last 30 years, I can undoubtedly say, these were the technically most difficult forms I have created, and the most striking. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
