| Fossil Stoneware fired to cone 6 with stains Life-scale, about 25" x 36" x 20" 2000 Textured slabs formed in bodycast pressmolds Hays, Kansas is located on the high prairie that climbs up to the Rockies. This flat land is basically a bed of limestone, richly embedded with fossils, recording the rich past of the land. While there are no actual human fossils in our Sternberg Museum, I enjoy imagining what they might look like. Fascinated by the wrinkled skin of bog mummies, Egyptian mummies and the life-like forms of the bodycasts from Pompeii, I hope my fossil bears the same air of mystery Linda Ganstrom |
